The 39 Articles & Creeds of the Faith ………

Are they backed by the Alexandrian line of scripture?

Has the Church been taken over by the Counter-Reformation?

An Investigation by David P Griffiths ………

To enable one to be a Minister of the National Church in England, and indeed the Anglican Communion worldwide, there is a Constitutional demand that these articles brought together in 1563, based on the work of the martyr of the faith Thomas Cranmer have to be believed in and adhered to.

The articles repudiate the teachings and practices of the Roman Catholic Church including transubstantiation, the sacrifice of the Mass and the sinlessness of Mary.

In line with all Reformation teaching the Articles affirm sola scriptura, the fall of man, the providing of both Bread and Wine in the Lord’s Supper and that ministers have the liberty to marry.

The objective of this paper is to show plainly that the work of higher critics Westcott and Hort who combined the Alexandrian codices of Alexandrinus, Sinaiticus & Vaticanus into the Revised Bible of 1881 is in direct opposition to not only the 39 articles but also the Creeds of the Faith.

The result of this will show that it is not legally possible to use what are known as “new translations” in the National Church of England and the entire Anglican Communion.

Article I: Of Faith in the Holy Trinity

There is but one living and true God, everlasting, without body, parts, or passions; of infinite power, wisdom, and goodness; the Maker, and Preserver of all things both visible and invisible. And in unity of this Godhead there be three Persons, of one substance, power, and eternity; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.

This article clearly defines the co-existent, co-equal Godhead that is not in the Alexandrian Line.

THE PROOF:

DOCTRINE 1 of Alexandrian “New Translations”: Jesus is “a god” and a lesser being.

NWT Dan. 3:25 He was answering and saying: “Look! I am beholding four able-bodied men walking about free in the midst of the fire, and there is no hurt to them, and the appearance of the fourth one is resembling a son of the gods.”

Dan. 3:25 NIV  He said, "Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods."

Dan 3:25 NASB  He said, "Look! I see four men loosed and (A)walking about in the midst of the fire without harm, and the appearance of the fourth is like a son of the (B)gods!"

Dan. 3:25 AMPLIFIED  He answered, Behold, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they are not hurt! And the form of the fourth is like a son of the gods!

Dan 3:25 NLT “Look!” Nebuchadnezzar shouted. “I see four men, unbound, walking around in the fire unharmed! And the fourth looks like a god[a]!”

Dan 3:25 ESV he answered and said, "But I see four men unbound, walking in the midst of the fire, and they are not hurt; and the appearance of the fourth is like a son of the gods."

The AKJV of the Antioch Line supports ARTICLE 1 to the hilt!

I John 2: 24 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.

Dan 3:25 He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.

DIVINE WARNING ….. Unless you believe that JESUS IS “THE SON OF GOD” – you will not overcome the world!

I John 5:5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

Following on from this is discovered that the Alexandrian Line demotes its “Jesus” as not having equality with the Father.

“New translations” agree with Jehovah Witness New World Translation on “lesser than Jehovah God” point!

Further proof of Antichrist.

NWT: Phil.2: 6 who, although he was existing in God’s form, gave no consideration to a seizure, namely, that he should be equal to God.

NIV Phil. 2:6 Who, being in very nature[a] God,
did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,

NASB  Phil. 2:6 who, although He (A)existed in the (B)form of God, (C)did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped

AMPLIFIED Phil. 2:6 Who, although being essentially one with God and in the form of God [[a]possessing the fullness of the attributes which make God God], did not [b]think this equality with God was a thing to be eagerly grasped [c]or retained,

NLT   Phil. 2:6 Though he was God,[a] he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to.

ESV Phil 2: 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped,

The Authorized Version does not!

Phil. 2:6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

Article II: Of the Word or Son of God, which was made very Man

The Son, which is the Word of the Father, begotten from everlasting of the Father, the very and eternal God, and of one substance with the Father, took Man's nature in the womb of the blessed Virgin, of her substance: so that two whole and perfect Natures, that is to say, the Godhead and Manhood, were joined together in one Person, never to be divided, whereof is one Christ, very God, and very Man; who truly suffered, was crucified, dead, and buried, to reconcile His Father to us, and to be a sacrifice, not only for original guilt, but also for all actual sins of men.

God, manifest in the flesh is denied in the Alexandrian Line.

DOCTRINE 2: God DID NOT “MANIFEST IN THE FLESH”!

J.W. Doctrine Scriptural Support:

“New translations” agree with New World Translation on “God did not manifest in the flesh” point! “He” or “Christ” is not admitting God manifest in the flesh! Further proof of Antichrist.

NWT: I Tim. 3:16 Indeed, the sacred secret of this godly devotion is admittedly great: ‘He was made manifest in flesh, was declared righteous in spirit, appeared to angels, was preached about among nations, was believed upon in [the] world, was received up in glory.’

NIV: 1 Tim. 3:16 Beyond all question, the mystery of godliness is great: He[a] appeared in a body,[b] was vindicated by the Spirit,
was seen by angels,  was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory.

NASB: 1 Tim. 3:16  By common confession, great is (A)the mystery of godliness: He who was (B)revealed in the flesh,
Was (C)vindicated in the Spirit,(D)Seen by angels. (E)Proclaimed among the nations,(F)Believed on in the world,(G)Taken up in glory.

AMPLIFIED: 1 Timothy 3:16  And great and important and weighty, we confess, is the hidden truth (the mystic secret) of godliness. He [[a]God] was made visible in human flesh, justified and vindicated in the [Holy] Spirit, was seen by angels, preached among the nations, believed on in the world, [and] taken up in glory. Footnotes: a) 1 Timothy 3:16 Some manuscripts read "God."

(Note; where Amplified says “some manuscripts – it is insultingly downgrading Textus Receptus – the PURE WORD OF GOD!) Further proof of Antichrist.

NLT I Tim. 3:16  Without question, this is the great mystery of our faith[a]: Christ[b] was revealed in a human body and vindicated by the Spirit.[c]He was seen by angels and announced to the nations. He was believed in throughout the world and taken to heaven in glory.

ESV I Tim. 3:16  Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of godliness: He[a] was manifested in the flesh, vindicated[b] by the Spirit,[c] seen by angels, proclaimed among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory.

ALSO – “BEGOTTEN” MISSING FROM ALEXANDRIAN LINE

ESV

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

TLB

For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son so that anyone who believes in him shall not

NIV

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

NIVUK

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

NRSV

“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.

RSV

For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

ANTIOCH LINE AKJV says clearly “GOD MANIFEST IN THE FLESH” the SON being begotten

I Tim. 3: 16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

John 3:16 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Article III: Of the going down of Christ into Hell

As Christ died for us, and was buried, so also is it to be believed, that he went down into Hell.

DOCTRINE 3: THE DESCENDING INTO HELL

“New translations” deny this, Hades, the realm of the dead and the grave not being the same place! This fundamental doctrine as it relates of to our sin salvation is absolutely denied here.

Acts 2:27-31 English Standard Version (ESV)

27 For you will not abandon my soul to Hades,
or let your Holy One see corruption.
28 You have made known to me the paths of life;
you will make me full of gladness with your presence.’

29 “Brothers, I may say to you with confidence about the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.30 Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that he would set one of his descendants on his throne, 31 he foresaw and spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption.

Acts 2:27-31 New Living Translation (NLT)

27 For you will not leave my soul among the dead[a]
or allow your Holy One to rot in the grave.
28 You have shown me the way of life,
and you will fill me with the joy of your presence.’[b]

29 “Dear brothers, think about this! You can be sure that the patriarch David wasn’t referring to himself, for he died and was buried, and his tomb is still here among us. 30 But he was a prophet, and he knew God had promised with an oath that one of David’s own descendants would sit on his throne. 31 David was looking into the future and speaking of the Messiah’s resurrection. He was saying that God would not leave him among the dead or allow his body to rot in the grave.

Acts 2:27-31 New International Version (NIV)

27 because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead,
you will not let your holy one see decay.
28 You have made known to me the paths of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence.’[a]

29 “Fellow Israelites, I can tell you confidently that the patriarch David died and was buried, and his tomb is here to this day. 30 But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne. 31 Seeing what was to come, he spoke of the resurrection of the Messiah, that he was not abandoned to the realm of the dead, nor did his body see decay.

Acts 2:27-31 Revised Standard Version (RSV)

27 For thou wilt not abandon my soul to Hades,
nor let thy Holy One see corruption.
28 Thou hast made known to me the ways of life;
thou wilt make me full of gladness with thy presence.’

29 “Brethren, I may say to you confidently of the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. 30 Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that he would set one of his descendants upon his throne, 31 he foresaw and spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption.

ANTIOCH LINE AKJV states clearly THE DESCENDING INTO HELL

Acts 2:27-31 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

27 because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

28 Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.

29 Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.

30 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;

31 he seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.

The Alexandrian Line for modern times was brought together by Westcott and Hort using Codices Alexandrinus, Sinaiticus and Vaticanus into the Revised Edition of 1881, to be continued as a “working text” by the Nestle Aland Committee.

From these codices Hort exclaimed:

CHRIST BEARING OUR SINS IS A HERESY Oct. 15th - Hort: "I entirely agree - correcting one word - with what you there say on the Atonement, having for many years believed that "the absolute union of the Christian (or rather, of man) with Christ Himself" is the spiritual truth of which the popular doctrine of substitution is an immoral and material counterfeit...Certainly nothing can be more unscriptural than the modern limiting of Christ's bearing our sins and sufferings to His death; but indeed that is only one aspect of an almost universal heresy." (Life, Vol.I, p.430).

Article IV: Of the Resurrection of Christ

Christ did truly rise again from death, and took again his body, with flesh, bones, and all things appertaining to the perfection of Man's nature; wherewith he ascended into Heaven, and there sitteth, until he return to judge all Men at the last day.

DOCTRINE 4: THE RESURRECTION OF CHRIST

“New translations” omit this, as clearly shown in Acts of the Apostles, and following scriptures.

i)This Omission attacks both the Virgin Birth and Resurrection of our Lord. Without the resurrection, we have not hope of eternal life.

Acts 2:30 (KJV) Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;

Acts 2:30 (NIV) But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne. NO RESURRECTION OF CHRIST JESUS HERE

ii)The NIV omits "of the dead".

This brings in question the power of God in resurrection. Many cultists teach that Jesus was not raised in a physical body. The "New Bibles" give these false doctrines aid and comfort.

Acts 24:15 (KJV) And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.

Acts 24:15 (NIV) and I have the same hope in God as these men, that there will be a resurrection of both the righteous and the wicked.

iii)The NIV omits "him that liveth for ever and ever". Jesus said "I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death." Revelation 1:18

Revelation 5:14 (KJV) And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever.

Revelation 5:14 (NIV) The four living creatures said, "Amen," and the elders fell down and worshiped.

iv)They delete the truth that our Lord has a body; this is taught by the modernist, and cults of our day. When Jesus is seen as not having a BODY, He is seen without a resurrection.

Ephesians 5:30 (KJV) For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

Ephesians 5:30 (NIV) for we are members of his body.

Article V: Of the Holy Ghost

The Holy Ghost, proceeding from the Father and the Son, is of one substance, majesty, and glory, with the Father and the Son, very and eternal God.

DOCTRINE 5:  The Holy Ghost changed in the Alexandrian Line to “the Spirit” but what “Spirit”?

Acts 8:18 (KJV) And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,

Acts 8:18 (NIV) When Simon saw that the Spirit was given at the laying on of the apostles' hands, he offered them money

Romans 15:19 (KJV) Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.

Romans 15:19 (NIV) by the power of signs and miracles, through the power of the Spirit. So from Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum, I have fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ.

John 7:39 (KJV) (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) Here “the Spirit” is clearly defined in the context of the Holy Ghost.

John 7:39 (NIV) By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.

We can see that the Alexandrian Line does not like "Spirit of God" or "Holy Ghost"

Acts 6:3 (KJV) Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

Acts 6:3 (NIV) Brothers, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them

1 Corinthians 2:13 (KJV) Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

1 Corinthians 2:13 (NIV) This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words.

Article VI: Of the Sufficiency of the Holy Scriptures for salvation

Holy Scripture containeth all things necessary to salvation: so that whatsoever is not read therein, nor may be proved thereby, is not to be required of any man, that it should be believed as an article of the Faith, or be thought requisite or necessary to salvation. In the name of the Holy Scripture, we do understand those Canonical books of the Old and New Testament, of whose authority was never any doubt in the Church.

Of the Names and Number of the Canonical Books

Genesis
Exodus
Leviticus
Numbers
Deuteronomy
Joshua
Judges
Ruth
The First Book of Samuel
The Second Book of Samuel
The First Book of Kings
The Second Book of Kings

                               The First Book of Chronicles
                               The Second Book of Chronicles
                               The First Book of Esdras
                               The Second Book of Esdras
                               The Book of Esther
                               The Book of Job
                               The Psalms
                               The Proverbs
                              Ecclesiastes or Preacher
Cantica, or Songs of Solomon
                              Four Prophets the greater
                             Twelve Prophets the less

And the other Books (as Hierome saith) the Church doth read for example of life and instruction of manners; but yet doth it not apply them to establish any doctrine; such are these following:

The Third Book of Esdras
The Fourth Book of Esdras
The Book of Tobias
The Book of Judith
The rest of the Book of Esther
The Book of Wisdom
Jesus the Son of Sirach

                            Baruch the Prophet
The Song of the Three Children
The  Story of Susanna
Of    Bel and the Dragon
The  Prayer of Manasses
The    First Book of Maccabees
                          The Second Book of Maccabees

All the Books of the New Testament, as they are commonly received, we do receive, and account them Canonical.

1 JOHN 5v4-5 KJV SLIDE.jpg

DOCTRINE 6:  The context of the 39 articles is that of the Protestant Scriptures that have come out of Antioch, not the Romanist ones that have their origins in the School of Alexandria, Egypt.

Evidence of this is in the Anglican Coronation Service, during which the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Scotland presents the Holy Bible, that which is authorised by the Protestant King.

Our gracious Queen: to keep your Majesty ever mindful of the Law and the Gospel of God as the Rule for the whole life and government of Christian Princes, we present you with this Book, the most valuable thing that this world affords. And the Moderator continues:

Here is Wisdom; This is royal Law; These are the lively Oracles of God.

The article understands that the Canon is completed unlike that of the Nestle Aland Committee made up of Bible Society members and agents of the Vatican which is openly admitted as non-definite and a “working text”. It is therefore important to realise that The Church of England and Church of Scotland cannot embrace codices of the Alexandrian Origin that are continually altered and manipulated by the agents of Rome, that use Sinaiticus, Alexandrinus & Vaticanus for all new translations, a fact admitted by themselves in the Introduction of the 25th. edition of the ever changing Nestle Aland text.

NESTLE ALAND.jpg

The text shared by these two editions was adopted internationally by Bible Societies, and following an agreement between the Vatican and the United Bible Societies it has served as the basis for new translations and for revisions made under their supervision. This marks a significant step with regard to inter confessional relationships. It should naturally be understood that this text is a working text (in the sense of the century-long Nestle tradition): it is not to be considered as definitive, but as a stimulus to further efforts toward defining and verifying the text of the New Testament .........

This is contrary to the teaching of Bishop Westcott, the higher critic of the Alexandrian Revised Version of 1881 who declared:  Oct., 22nd after Trinity Sunday - Westcott: "Do you not understand the meaning of Theological 'Development'? It is briefly this, that in an early time some doctrine is proposed in a simple or obscure form, or even but darkly hinted at, which in succeeding ages, as the wants of men's minds grow, grows with them - in fact, that Christianity is always progressive in its principles and doctrines" (Life, Vol. I, p.78).

Malachi 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Deut. 4:2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.

Rev. 22:18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

Article VII: Of the Old Testament

The Old Testament is not contrary to the New: for both in the Old and New Testament everlasting life is offered to Mankind by Christ, who is the only Mediator between God and Man, being both God and Man. Wherefore there are not to be heard, which feign that the old Fathers did look only for transitory promises. Although the Law given from God by Moses, as touching Ceremonies and Rites, do not bind Christian men, nor the Civil precepts thereof ought of necessity to be received in any commonwealth; yet, notwithstanding, no Christian man whatsoever is free from the obedience of the Commandments which are called Moral.

  1. FULFILMENT: The New Testament according to true scripture is the fulfilment of the Old, the Old looking to day of Lucifer’s defeat at the Cross of Calvary, the Lord Jesus not only taking sin and iniquity to the Cross but also sickness, infirmity and disease so as to fulfil that which was spoken by Isaiah the Prophet in the Old Testament.

Matthew 8:16-18 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

16 When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:

17 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare oursicknesses.

18 Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandment to depart unto the other side.

Matthew 8:16-18 New International Version (NIV)

16 When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick.

17 This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah:

“He took up our infirmities
    and bore our diseases.”[a]

The Cost of Following Jesus

18 When Jesus saw the crowd around him, he gave orders to cross to the other side of the lake.

The story however is very different in the Alexandrian text as shown here in the NIV with the spirits being cast out on the Antioch Line with the Word of the Lord Jesus, HIS WORD not “a word”, and whilst it is right to say that the Lord Jesus “bore” our sicknesses at the Cross, the Alexandrian text however leaves it in the past and does not relate it to the ever present as in the Antioch text, “bare” being it is continuous for all time, so fulfilment is not in the Alexandrian Text, thus the first part of this article is not supported in the Alexandrian text.

If this is not enough, the Alexandrian Text denies the Finished Work of Christ Jesus at the Cross through Old Testament codices that only declare that Jesus broke the yoke of bondage, as opposed to destroying it because of the anointing as it is along the Antioch line, thus leaving the door wide open for everlasting deliverance sessions under the Deliverance Minister or everlasting confessions to a Romanist Priest, thus there being no fulfilment here either.

Isaiah 10:27 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

27 And it shall come to pass in that day,
that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder,
and his yoke from off thy neck,
and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.

Isaiah 10:27 New International Version (NIV)

27 In that day their burden will be lifted from your shoulders,
    their yoke from your neck;
the yoke will be broken
because you have grown so fat.[a]

2.  Christ Jesus – The Only Mediator between God and Man.

1 Timothy 2:5 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

1 Timothy 2:5 New International Version (NIV)

5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus,

In one respect both look the same but on getting to the root of this the approach is very different. The Alexandrian line that is the root of Romanism has many mediators between God and man including Mary so one has to ask from Vaticanus, Sinaiticus and Alexandrinus that were brought together by Westcott and Hort for the 1881 Revised Edition, what they actually believed.

1847 Jan., 2nd Sunday after Epiphany - Westcott: "After leaving the monastery we shaped our course to a little oratory...It is very small, with one kneeling-place; and behind a screen was a 'Pieta' the size of life (i.e. a Virgin and dead Christ)...I could not help thinking on the grandeur of the Romish Church, on her zeal even in error, on her earnestness and self-devotion, which we might, with nobler views and a purer end, strive to imitate. Had I been alone I could have knelt there for hours." (Life, Vol.I, p.81).

1848 July 6th - Hort: "One of the things, I think, which shows the falsity of the Evangelical notion of this subject (baptism), is that it is so trim and precise...no deep spiritual truths of the Reason are thus logically harmonious and systematic...the pure Romish view seems to me nearer, and more likely to lead to, the truth than the Evangelical...the fanaticism of the bibliolaters, among whom reading so many 'chapters' seems exactly to correspond to the Romish superstition of telling so many dozen beads on a rosary...still we dare not forsake the Sacraments, or God will forsake us...I am inclined to think that no such state as 'Eden' (I mean the popular notion) ever existed, and that Adam's fall in no degree differed from the fall of each of his descendants" (Life, Vol.I, pp.76-78).

1865 Sept. 27th - Westcott: "I have been trying to recall my impressions of La Salette (a marian shrine). I wish I could see to what forgotten truth Mariolatry bears witness; and how we can practically set forth the teaching of the miracles".

Nov. 17th - Westcott: "As far as I could judge, the 'idea' of La Salette was that of God revealing Himself now, and not in one form but in many." (Life, Vol.I. pp.251,252).

Oct. 17th - Hort: "I have been persuaded for many years that Mary-worship and 'Jesus'-worship have very much in common in their causes and their results." (Life, Vol.II, p.50).

To support the Romanist view, the following scripture is given.

John 20:22-23 New International Version (NIV)

22 And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.

23 If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.”

However, for this to be true, the academic needs to be discarded, something Westcott and Hort failed to do, for they were both high critics that placed human rationale higher than divine revelation.

John 20:22-23 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:

23 whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.

Scripture has to be placed in context however, for Jesus had previous prayed that the “ye” in this passage, meaning the plurality of the Royal Priesthood of Believers be one as they meaning the Father and the Son be one, there therefore being no contradiction here to I Timothy 2:5, the Alexandrian line throughout history having many roads to God, the Protestant position being through Christ Jesus only, through his precious blood, a word commonly absent from Alexandrian codices.

John 17:21 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

21 that they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

John 17:21 New International Version (NIV)

21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.

Hebrews 1:3 proves the point, the Alexandrian version removing “by himself.”

Hebrews 1:3 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

3 who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

Hebrews 1:3 New International Version (NIV)

3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

3.  The Greatest Fulfilment Ceremony, and Exposure of the Counterfeit.

The Table of the Lord was instituted in Genesis 14, being fulfilled in the Gospels, it being interesting to note that Jesus came along the line of Melchizedek, those being Christ’s being of the seed of Abraham, a real fulfilment and continuity of the Old and New Testaments.

Genesis 14:18-22 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.

19 And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:

20 and blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.

21 And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself.

22 And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the Lord, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth,

Luke 22:15-19 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

15 And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:

16 for I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.

17 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves:

18 for I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.

19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.

Psalm 110:4 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

4 The Lord hath sworn, and will not repent,
Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.

Hebrews 6:20 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

20 whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

Galatians 3:23-29 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.

24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

29 And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

It is therefore important to understand here the Melchizedek priesthood and its continuation into the New Testament, particularly in relation to the Table of the Lord, where the seed of Abraham gather.

On the Alexandrian side however there is a counterfeit continuation as we discover from the scripture the warning of Paul in relation to the declaration of “another Jesus”, the Alexandrian side portraying a “Jesus” in the Old and New Testaments that has been given the same title as to Lucifer, a Jesus that is only “a son” rather than the “begotten son” and it is this subtle connection that we expose in relation to this article, that is the continuation throughout the Old and the New of the real Jesus, it being our contention in the Bible College of Wales that the “new translations” of the Alexandrian Line proclaim a Jesus, Luciferian in background, Cranmer using as his base with the articles the Antioch Line seeing the Roman Catholic Church as portraying “another Jesus”.

2 Corinthians 11:4 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

Daniel 3:25 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

25 He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.

Daniel 3:25 New International Version (NIV)

25 He said, “Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.”

THIS IS WHAT THE OXFORD MARTYRS OF LATIMER, RIDLEY AND CRANMER KNEW THAT THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH HAS MADE A SUPPOSED DEITY ONE OF THE SAME WITH THE ONE WHO DECLARED

“I SHALL BE LIKE THE MOST HIGH!”

AND INDEED HE IS THE SAME IN THE NIV!

Isaiah 14:12-14 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

12 How art thou fallen from heaven,
O Lucifer, son of the morning!
how art thou cut down to the ground,
which didst weaken the nations!
13 For thou hast said in thine heart,
I will ascend into heaven,
I will exalt my throne above the stars of God:
I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation,
in the sides of the north:
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds;
I will be like the most High.

AND INDEED HE IS IN THE NIV - HE NOT ONLY IS LIKE THE MOST HIGH –

HE IS!!

Isaiah 14:12 New International Version (NIV)

12 How you have fallen from heaven,

morning star, son of the dawn!
You have been cast down to the earth,
you who once laid low the nations!

2 Peter 1:19 New International Version (NIV) –

addressed to the Church and Lucifer rising

19 We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns

and the morning star rises in your hearts.

Revelation 22:16 New International Version (NIV)

16 “I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you[a] this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.

Article VIII: Of the Three Creeds

The Three Creeds, Nicene Creed, Athanasius's Creed, and that which is commonly called the Apostles' Creed, ought thoroughly to be received and believed: for they may be proved by most certain warrants of holy Scripture.

  1. THE NICENE CREED

WE BELIEVE in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.

For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary,
and was made man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come.

Amen.

This creed came about to counteract the claims of a “made” Jesus that had emerged through the heresy of Arius, that brought about the Jehovah Witness cult that denies the deity of Christ Jesus. It is therefore a fact that the Jehovah Witness Bible uses exactly the same codices as the NIV and all “new translations.”

The word “begotten” here is key as this means being of the same substance as the Father. The word is used 24 times in AKJV; yet only once in NIV, and that in Isaiah 45:10 not in the context of the begotten son of God. The original NASB did so in John 3:16 but in line with the continually changing doctrines of Nestle Aland removed it in the Revised NASB.

Nestle Aland Alexandrian Bibles continually deny the deity of Christ Jesus which the Nicene Creed counteracts – illustrated here in the NASB.

John 1:18 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

18 No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him.

John 1:18 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

2.  THE ATHANASIUS CREED

Whoever desires to be saved should above all hold to the catholic faith.

Anyone who does not keep it whole and unbroken will doubtless perish eternally.

Now this is the catholic faith:

That we worship one God in trinity and the trinity in unity,
    neither blending their persons
    nor dividing their essence.
For the person of the Father is a distinct person,

the person of the Son is another,
and that of the Holy Spirit still another.
But the divinity of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is one,
their glory equal, their majesty coeternal.

What quality the Father has, the Son has, and the Holy Spirit has.
        The Father is uncreated,
        the Son is uncreated,
        the Holy Spirit is uncreated.

        The Father is immeasurable,
        the Son is immeasurable,
        the Holy Spirit is immeasurable.

        The Father is eternal,
        the Son is eternal,
        the Holy Spirit is eternal.

            And yet there are not three eternal beings;
there is but one eternal being.
            So too there are not three uncreated or immeasurable beings;
there is but one uncreated and immeasurable being.

    Similarly, the Father is almighty,
        the Son is almighty,
        the Holy Spirit is almighty.
            Yet there are not three almighty beings;
there is but one almighty being.

        Thus the Father is God,
        the Son is God,
        the Holy Spirit is God.

            Yet there are not three gods;
            there is but one God.

        Thus the Father is Lord,
        the Son is Lord,
        the Holy Spirit is Lord.
            Yet there are not three lords;
            there is but one Lord.

Just as Christian truth compels us
    to confess each person individually
    as both God and Lord,
    so catholic religion forbids us
to say that there are three gods or lords.

The Father was neither made nor created nor begotten from anyone.

    The Son was neither made nor created;
he was begotten from the Father alone.
    The Holy Spirit was neither made nor created nor begotten;
he proceeds from the Father and the Son.

    Accordingly there is one Father, not three fathers;
    there is one Son, not three sons;
there is one Holy Spirit, not three holy spirits.

Nothing in this trinity is before or after,
    nothing is greater or smaller;
in their entirety the three persons
are coeternal and coequal with each other.

So in everything, as was said earlier,
we must worship their trinity in their unity
and their unity in their trinity.

Anyone then who desires to be saved
should think thus about the trinity.

But it is necessary for eternal salvation
that one also believe in the incarnation
of our Lord Jesus Christ faithfully.

Now this is the true faith:

    That we believe and confess
that our Lord Jesus Christ, God's Son,
is both God and human, equally.

He is God from the essence of the Father,
    begotten before time;
and he is human from the essence of his mother,
    born in time;
    completely God, completely human,
    with a rational soul and human flesh;
equal to the Father as regards divinity,
less than the Father as regards humanity.

Although he is God and human,
yet Christ is not two, but one.

    He is one, however,
not by his divinity being turned into flesh,
but by God's taking humanity to himself.
    He is one,
certainly not by the blending of his essence,
but by the unity of his person.

For just as one human is both rational soul and flesh,
so too the one Christ is both God and human.

    He suffered for our salvation;
    he descended to hell;
    he arose from the dead;
    he ascended to heaven;
    he is seated at the Father's right hand;
from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

At his coming all people will arise bodily
and give an accounting of their own deeds.
Those who have done good will enter eternal life,
and those who have done evil will enter eternal fire.

This is the catholic faith:
one cannot be saved without believing it firmly and faithfully.

The theme here is of the universal Catholic faith, not Roman Catholic as the creed relates to the principles of the Protestant Reformation. In this context is the co-equal – co-existent Godhead, all fully God, yet in distinct personage. In this context is the affirmation of the Holy Trinity but this is denied along the Alexandrian line.

The Doctrine of the Trinity is denied along the Alexandrian Line:

1 John 5:7 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

1 John 5:7 New International Version (NIV)

7 For there are three that testify:

1 John 5:7 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

7 For there are three that testify:

1 John 5:7 Revised Standard Version (RSV)

7 And the Spirit is the witness, because the Spirit is the truth.

God’s name “Jehovah” is not included in the Alexandrian Line, thus through forgetting this name, the covenant promises that come through this name are therefore not included in the Alexandrian Line.

Jeremiah 23:27 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

27 which think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbour, as their fathers have forgotten my name for Baal.

Exodus 6:3 (KJV) And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them.

Exodus 6:3 (NIV) I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob as God Almighty, but by my name the LORD I did not make myself known to them.

Genesis 22:14 (KJV) And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.

Genesis 22:14 (NIV) So Abraham called that place The LORD Will Provide. And to this day it is said, "On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided."

Exodus 17:15 (KJV) And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovahnissi:

Exodus 17:15 (NIV) Moses built an altar and called it The LORD is my Banner.

Isaiah 12:2 (KJV) Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.

Isaiah 12:2 (NIV) Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The LORD, the LORD, is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation."

The Denial of the Co-Existent, co-equal Godhead

1 John 2:22 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

Philippians 2:6 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

6 who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

Philippians 2:6 Revised Standard Version (RSV)

6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped,

3.  THE APOSTLES CREED

I believe in God, the Father almighty,
      creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the virgin Mary.
      He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
      was crucified, died, and was buried;
      he descended to hell.

The third day he rose again from the dead.
      He ascended to heaven
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
      the holy catholic* church,
      the communion of saints,
      the forgiveness of sins,
      the resurrection of the body,
      and the life everlasting. Amen.

This creed affirms the creation, the virgin birth and the descending into hell. The Alexandrian Line simply does not, within the context of it being by “the fullness of the Godhead” bodily that creation occurred. Also, Westcott and Hort, the higher critics of the new translations were Darwinian evolutionists who denied the literal creation account of Genesis 1-3.

Colossians 1:16-20 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

16 for by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

17 and he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;

20 and, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

Colossians 1:16-20 New International Version (NIV)

16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.

17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.

19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him,

20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

1860 Apr. 3rd - Hort: "But the book which has most engaged me is Darwin. Whatever may be thought of it, it is a book that one is proud to be contemporary with. I must work out and examine the argument in more detail, but at present my feeling is strong that the theory is unanswerable." (Life, Vol.I, p.416).

1890 Mar. 4th - Westcott: "No one now, I suppose, holds that the first three chapters of Genesis, for example, give a literal history - I could never understand how any one reading them with open eyes could think they did - yet they disclose to us a Gospel. So it is probably elsewhere."

(Alexandrian Allegorical Approach)

As with the denial of the literal creation, there is also a denial of the virgin birth.

The NIV removes "firstborn" - questions the virgin birth!

Matthew 1:25 (KJV) And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

Matthew 1:25 (NIV) But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.

The NIV changes "Joseph" to "the child's father" - questioning the virgin birth!

Luke 2:33 (KJV) And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him.

Luke 2:33 (NIV) The child's father and mother marveled at what was said about him.

The NIV changes "Joseph and his mother" to "his parents" which attacks the virgin birth.

Luke 2:43 (KJV) And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it.

Luke 2:43 (NIV) After the Feast was over, while his parents were returning home, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, but they were unaware of it.

Taking these scriptures that place doubt on the virgin birth and the general view of scripture by the higher critics, we have to conclude that the new translations do not support the virgin birth.

"I reject the infallibility of Holy Scriptures overwhelmingly." (Westcott, The Life and Letters of Brook Foss Westcott, Vol. I, p.207).

"Our Bible as well as our Faith is a mere compromise." (Westcott, On the Canon of the New Testament, p. vii

"Evangelicals seem to me perverted. . .There are, I fear, still more serious differences between us on the subject of authority, especially the authority of the Bible." (Hort, The Life and Letters of Fenton John Anthony Hort, Vol. I, p.400)

Finally, on the descending into hell, no descending into hell in the Alexandrian text.

Hell is recorded 54 times in AKJV; 15 times in NIV; 20 times in RSV, but not in the context of the Apostles Creed.

30 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;

31 he seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.

Acts 2:27-31 New International Version (NIV)

27 because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead,
you will not let your holy one see decay.

28 You have made known to me the paths of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence.’[a]

29 “Fellow Israelites, I can tell you confidently that the patriarch David died and was buried, and his tomb is here to this day. 30 But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne. 31 Seeing what was to come, he spoke of the resurrection of the Messiah, that he was not abandoned to the realm of the dead, nor did his body see decay.

Colossians 2:14-15 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

14 blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

15 and having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

Colossians 2:14-15 New International Version (NIV)

14 having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.

15 And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.[a]

That which is “written” has huge charge in true scripture, a mere cancelation not being good enough on the Alexandrian side, for that which was written against us was more than cancelled, but “blotted out”! The Alexandrian Line fails however to get to the root of our redemption which the Apostles Creed demands, this again a failing on the Alexandrian side to back the ancient creeds of the faith.

Article IX: Of Original or Birth-Sin

Original Sin standeth not in the following of Adam, (as the Pelagians do vainly talk), but it is the fault and corruption of the Nature of every man, that naturally is ingendered of the offspring of Adam; whereby man is very far gone from original righteousness, and is of his own nature inclined to evil, so that the flesh lusteth always contrary to the spirit; and therefore in every person born into this world, it deserveth God's wrath and damnation. And this infection of nature doth remain, yea, in them that are regenerated; whereby the lust of the flesh, called in Greek, phronema sarkos, which some do expound the wisdom, some sensuality, some the affection, some the desire, of the flesh, is not subject to the Law of God. And although there is no condemnation for them that believe and are baptized, yet the Apostle doth confess, that concupiscence and lust hath of itself the nature of sin.

This relates to the total depravity of man, the flesh that lusteth being contrary to the spirit, every person deserving God’s wrath and damnation. What the article establishes however in line with other articles, is the need of man for salvation, this only coming through Christ Jesus, the higher critical approach to universal salvation being therefore void.

A verse that backs all this up is missing from Alexandrian texts and illustrated here from Acts.

Acts 8:36-37 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?

37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

Acts 8:36-37 New International Version (NIV)

36 As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, “Look, here is water. What can stand in the way of my being baptized?”

[37] [a]

Article X: Of Free-Will

The condition of Man after the fall of Adam is such, that he cannot turn and prepare himself, by his own natural strength and good works, to faith, and calling upon God: Wherefore we have no power to do good works pleasant and acceptable to God, without the grace of God by Christ preventing us, that we may have a good will, and working with us, when we have that good will.

That good will is being a part of the Kingdom of God but this is eliminated from the Alexandrian text ……

Matthew 6:13 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Matthew 6:13 New International Version (NIV)

13 And lead us not into temptation,[a]
but deliver us from the evil one.[b]’

Of the higher critics behind the new translations there is also denial of Adam’s fall:

Article XI: Of the Justification of Man

We are accounted righteous before God, only for the merit of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ by Faith, and not for our own works or deservings: Wherefore, that we are justified by Faith only is a most wholesome Doctrine, and very full of comfort, as more largely is expressed in the Homily of Justification.

The Word of God is our authority for salvation, being justified by faith, the Word however being omitted from the Alexandrian line. In the context of salvation, repentance is also removed. Regeneration of the heart is removed too, grace being removed too! The terrible price of rejection is covered too but not on the Alexandrian line.

Finally the view of the higher critic Hort, who played such an important role in the coming of the Revised Version from Alexandrian text relating the atonement as heresy.

Luke 4:4 (KJV) And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

Luke 4:4 (NIV) Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone.'"

Matthew 9:13 (KJV) But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Matthew 9:13 (NIV) But go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice.' For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."

Matthew 12:35 (KJV) A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.

Matthew 12:35 (NIV) The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him.

Colossians 3:16 (KJV) ... with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

Colossians 3:16 (NIV) ... with gratitude in your hearts to God.

Mark 6:11 (KJV) And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

Mark 6:11 (NIV) And if any place will not welcome you or listen to you, shake the dust off your feet when you leave, as a testimony against them."

Oct.

Article XII: Of Good Works

Albeit that Good Works, which are the fruits of Faith, and follow after Justification, cannot put away our sins, and endure the severity of God's Judgement; yet are they pleasing and acceptable to God in Christ, and do spring out necessarily of a true and lively Faith; insomuch that by them a lively Faith may be as evidently known as a tree discerned by the fruit.

There are major difference here between the Antioch and Alexandrian lines.

  1. A husbandman is a farmer rather than a gardener, the husbandman cultivating the land for major, commercial level fruit and crops, very different to a gardener, a clear undermining of the fruits of faith. Purging is very different to cleaning which is in the NIV footnote that undermines the main text. Abiding is a much stronger word than remaining, and the failure to use the word “ye” meaning the corporate “you” rather than the single “you” is one that shows modern language incapable of portraying the deep truths of the real Word of God.

John 15:1-7 King James Version (KJV)

I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

John 15:1-7 New International Version (NIV)

The Vine and the Branches

15 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.

2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes[a] so that it will be even more fruitful.

3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.

4 Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

6 If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.

7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

Footnotes:

  1. John 15:2 The Greek for he prunes also means he cleans.

Article XIII: Of Works before Justification

Works done before the grace of Christ, and the Inspiration of his Spirit, are not pleasant to God, forasmuch as they spring not of faith in Jesus Christ, neither do they make men meet to receive grace, or (as the School-authors say) deserve grace of congruity: yea, rather, for that they are not done as God hath willed and commanded them to be done, we doubt not but they have the nature of sin.

Romans 5:12 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Romans 5:12 New International Version (NIV)

Death Through Adam, Life Through Christ

12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned

However, by the blood of Jesus Christ we who are true Christians have the full assurance of salvation, but not on the Alexandrian line where hope takes over from assurance. The Christian walk in producing good works is in being crucified with him, in taking up the Cross – but not on the Alexandrian line.

Hebrews 10:23 (KJV) Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;

Hebrews 10:23 (NIV) Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.

Mark 10:21 (KJV) Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

Mark 10:21 (NIV) Jesus looked at him and loved him. "One thing you lack," he said. "Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."

Article XIV: Of Works of Supererogation

Voluntary Works besides, over, and above, God's Commandments, which they call Works of Supererogation, cannot be taught without arrogancy and impiety: for by them men do declare, that they do not only render unto God as much as they are bound to do, but that they do more for his sake, than of bounden duty is required: whereas Christ saith plainly, When ye have done all that are commanded to you, say, We are unprofitable servants.

This is the contrast between who we are in Christ Jesus, and who we are not in ourselves. The context here is from Luke 17:5-10, the Mustard Seed illustration. The differential between flesh and spirit is seen too in Romans 8; the whole British Constitution being based on putting SPIRIT FIRST. In this context is the reality that as a Christian we are not our own, but give our all, being crucified with Him rather than being a separate entity of free choice.

The problem however with the Alexandrian line, is that there is no condition, no recognition of the unworthy state leaving out the obedience clause of Romans 8:1; and giving a completely different perspective in Galatians 2:20, for missing is living by the faith OF the Son of God.

Luke 17:5-10 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

5 And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.

6 And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.

7 But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat?

8 And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink?

9 Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not.

10 So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.

Romans 8:1 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Romans 8:1 New International Version (NIV) Life Through the Spirit

8 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,

1 Corinthians 6:20 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

Galatians 2:20 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Galatians 2:20 New International Version (NIV)

20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

From here we have the understanding by fully giving one’s life to Christ, we move on to be a son and an heir of God, a fact denied in the Alexandrian text.

Galatians 4:7 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

Galatians 4:7 New International Version (NIV)

7 So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.

Article XV: Of Christ alone without Sin

Christ in the truth of our nature was made like unto us in all things, sin only except, from which he was clearly void, both in his flesh, and in his spirit. He came to be the Lamb without spot, who, by sacrifice of himself once made, should take away the sins of the world, and sin, as Saint John saith, was not in him. But all we the rest, although baptized, and born again in Christ, yet offend in many things; and if we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

Here is a clear Anglican affirmation of the need to be “born again.” To get to this state there is the requirement of repentance, not included along the Alexandrian line.

Mark 2:17 (KJV) When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Mark 2:17 (NIV) On hearing this, Jesus said to them, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."

Article XVI: Of Sin after Baptism

Not every deadly sin willingly commited after Baptism is sin against the Holy Ghost, and unpardonable. Wherefore the grant of repentance is not to be denied to such as fall into sin after Baptism. After we have received the Holy Ghost, we may depart from grace given, and fall into sin, and by the grace of God we may arise again, and amend our lives. And therefore they are to be condemned, which say, they can no more sin as long as they live here, or deny the place of forgiveness to such as truly repent.

There is always the opportunity to sin, but also the opportunity to be pick up one’s cross and walk the path of holiness in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus. The concept however of being quickened in the past tense context is omitted from the Alexandrian text, content it would seem to give an account of Christ, but failing to relate this to the Church, the Antioch line emphasizing the finished work of Christ whilst the Alexandrian line relates this to be a process of the present tense.

Ephesians 1:18-2:6 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

19 and what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,

20 which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,

21 far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:

22 and hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,

23 which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

2 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

2 wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

3 among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

5 even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

6 and hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

Ephesians 1:18-2:6 New International Version (NIV)

18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people,

19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength

20 he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms,

21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.

22 And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church,

23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.

Made Alive in Christ

2 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins,

2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.

3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh[a] and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath.

4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy,

5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.

6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,

Article XVII: Of Predestination and Election

Predestination to Life is the everlasting purpose of God, whereby (before the foundations of the world were laid) he hath constantly decreed by his counsel secret to us, to deliver from curse and damnation those whom he hath chosen in Christ out of mankind, and to bring them by Christ to everlasting salvation, as vessels made to honour. Wherefore, they which be endued with so excellent a benefit of God be called according to God's purpose by his Spirit working in due season: they through Grace obey the calling: they be justified freely: they be made sons of God by adoption: they be made like the image of his only-begotten Son Jesus Christ: they walk religiously in good works, and at length, by God's mercy, they attain to everlasting felicity.

As the godly consideration of Predestination, and our Election in Christ, is full of sweet, pleasant, and unspeakable comfort to godly persons, and such as feel in themselves the working of the Spirit of Christ, mortifying the works of the flesh, and their earthly members, and drawing up their mind to high and heavenly things, as well because it doth greatly establish and confirm their faith of eternal Salvation to be enjoyed through Christ, as because it doth fervently kindle their love towards God: So, for curious and carnal persons, lacking the Spirit of Christ, to have continually before their eyes the sentence of God's Predestination, is a most dangerous downfal, whereby the Devil doth thrust them either into desperation, or into wretchlessness of most unclean living, no less perilous than desperation.

Furthermore, we must receive God's promises in such wise, as they be generally set forth to us in holy Scripture: and, in our doings, that Will of God is to be followed, which we have expressly declared unto us in the Word of God.

1.  The first paragraph is of the Christian walk, there being a clear declaration of being the sons of God within the context of the only begotten Son, this being denied in the Alexandrian line, thus we presenting in our case John 3, the condemnation being those not believing in the name of the only begotten son of God, which the Alexandrian line omits, thus placing into context Romans 8.

John 3:16-18 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

John 3:16-18 New International Version (NIV)

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.

Romans 8:9-17 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.

13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

17 and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

Romans 8:9-17 New International Version (NIV)

9 You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ.

10 But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life[a] because of righteousness.

11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of[b] his Spirit who lives in you.

12 Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it.

13 For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.

14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.

15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship.[c] And by him we cry, “Abba,[d] Father.”

16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.

17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

2.  The cost of not knowing Christ Jesus is thus emphasized, there being a place for the people of God in the Rapture, thus omitted from the Alexandrian line.

Matthew 25:13 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

Luke 17:36 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

36 Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

Matthew 25:13 New International Version (NIV)

13 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.

Luke 17:36 New International Version (NIV)

[36] [a]

3.  The importance of the Word of God is thus emphasized, the Word of God being of Antioch Line described in the Coronation service as “the most valuable thing this world affords.” However, the Word of God and its lasting qualities is fundamentally denied by the Alexandrian line, the word being changed to “us.”!

Psalms 12:6-7 (KJV) The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

Psalms 12:6-7 (NIV) And the words of the LORD are flawless, like silver refined in a furnace of clay, purified seven times.

7 O LORD, you will keep us safe and protect us from such people forever.

Article XVIII: Of obtaining eternal Salvation only by the Name of Christ

They also are to be had accursed that presume to say, That every man shall be saved by the Law or Sect which he professeth, so that he be diligent to frame his life according to that Law, and the light of Nature. For holy Scripture doth set out unto us only the Name of Jesus Christ, whereby men must be saved.

The name of Jesus Christ here is presented in the context of the articles of being part of the co-existent, co-equal Godhead, and indeed this is the emphasis of the Athanasius Creed. It is therefore clear that the Alexandrian Line undermines the deity of Christ, thus if he is not fully God then how can his sacrifice be good enough for salvation.

The attack therefore along the Alexandrian Line is one on the deity of Christ as clearly shown here. The continuous undermining of Christ along the Alexandrian line shows that along this presentation there is no assurance of salvation, only hope as discussed previously. This is not the Christian faith of Cranmer.

By changing "God" to "He" they remove the fact that Jesus is God. This is done in the NASV also.

1 Timothy 3:16 (KJV) And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

1 Timothy 3:16 (NIV) Beyond all question, the mystery of godliness is great: He appeared in a body, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory.

By changing "Christ" to "God" they deny that Jesus is God.

Romans 14:10 (KJV) But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

Romans 14:12 (KJV) So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

Romans 14:10 (NIV) You, then, why do you judge your brother? Or why do you look down on your brother? For we will all stand before God's judgment seat.

Romans 14:12 (NIV) So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.

They change "Son of God" to "Son of Man", who gave them the right to call Jesus a liar?

John 9:35 (KJV) Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God?

John 9:35 (NIV) Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, and when he found him, he said, "Do you believe in the Son of Man?"

In Matthew 9:18, Matthew 20:20, and Mark 5:6 "Worshipped" and "Worshipping" is changed to "knelt down". This removes the due respect of our Saviour. Jesus is eternal, He did not have an origin.

Micah 5:2 (KJV) But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

Micah 5:2 (NIV) "But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times."

Again, Jesus is eternal, He is the beginning and ending.

Revelation 1:8 (KJV) I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

Revelation 1:8 (NIV) "I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty."

The NIV omits the first part of the verse, and leaves out the name Jesus, who is called the Son of God by these devils.

Matthew 8:29 (KJV) And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?

Matthew 8:29 (NIV) "What do you want with us, Son of God?" they shouted. "Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?"

NIV leaves out Jesus.

Matthew 16:20 (KJV) Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.

Matthew 16:20 (NIV) Then he warned his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Christ.

They omit Christ and add man - this is wrong!

John 4:42 (KJV) And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.

John 4:42 (NIV) They said to the woman, "We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world."

Where did this name for God come from "One" - this is the New Age universal god - "the One".

John 6:69 (KJV) And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.

John 6:69 (NIV) We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God."

NIV Omits Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 16:22 (KJV) If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha.

1 Corinthians 16:22 (NIV) If anyone does not love the Lord--a curse be on him. Come, O Lord !

NIV omits by Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 3:9 (KJV) And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:

Ephesians 3:9 (NIV) and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things.

Omits by himself.

Hebrews 1:3 (KJV) Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

Hebrews 1:3 (NIV) The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

Article XIX: Of the Church

The visible Church of Christ is a congregation of faithful men, in the which the pure Word of God is preached, and the Sacraments be duly ministered according to Christ's ordinance in all those things that of necessity are requisite to the same.

As the Church of Jerusalem, Alexandria, and Antioch have erred: so also the Church of Rome hath erred, not only in their living and manner of Ceremonies, but also in matters of Faith.

This article relates to how a physical entity can err, the Church can never for the Church is the Body of Christ, the branches to the Vine, the partakers of the divine nature, as He is on this earth.

It being on Peter, yet not Peter but the Christ within him and the Christ to be in all believers as looked forward to in this discourse between Jesus and Peter. The accounts of this are different for in the Alexandrian account there is no Christ and no hell, the footnote of the NIV along the Romanist root declaring Peter to be the Rock, which we know using these codices they now declare as their first Pope.

The reality however is somewhat different for the Church was to be built on earth, from the hearts of believers, the Christ within Peter, the Body of Christ being the walking Body of Christ on this earth, the body obedient to the Head!

The Alexandrian text in its consistency in denying the resurrection as it relates to the Church in Ephesians 5:30 leaves out being members of his body, flesh and bones for this marks the physical resurrection of Christ as it relates to the Church on earth, a serious omission making the Alexandrian text not able to support these articles of faith.

As regards to the Church entities that failed, these relate to how Peter became Lucifer having resorted to human rationale as this pertains to the things of God.

Matthew 16:13-20 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Cæsarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?

14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.

15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

20 Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.

Matthew 16:13-20 New International Version (NIV)

Peter Declares That Jesus Is the Messiah

13 When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?”

14 They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”

15 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”

16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.

18 And I tell you that you are Peter,[a] and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades[b] will not overcome it.

19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be[c] bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be[d] loosed in heaven.”

20 Then he ordered his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah.

Ephesians 5:22-33 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

26 that he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

27 that he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.

29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:

30 for we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence herhusband.

Ephesians 5:22-33 New International Version (NIV)

22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord.

23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior.

24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her

26 to make her holy, cleansing[a] her by the washingwith water through the word,

27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.

28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wivesas their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.

29 After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church—

30 for we are members of his body.

31 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.”[b

32 This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church.

33 However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

22 Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.

23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

Matthew 16:22-23 New International Version (NIV)

22 Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. “Never, Lord!” he said. “This shall never happen to you!”

23 Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”

Article XX: Of the Authority of the Church

The Church hath power to decree Rites or Ceremonies, and authority in Controversies of Faith: And yet it is not lawful for the Church to ordain anything contrary to God's Word written, neither may it so expound one place of Scripture, that it be repugnant to another. Wherefore, although the Church be a witness and a keeper of holy Writ, yet, as it ought not to decree any thing against the same, so besides the same ought it not to enforce any thing to be believed for necessity of Salvation.

Very important to emphasize here the sola scriptura of the Protestant Reformation, this being rejected by the Roman Catholic Church which as we see from this analysis has very different scriptures than that upholding the Antioch Line, the 39 articles are based on.

The article looks for the student of scripture to place the Word in context with understanding, the most important ceremony being that the Monarch’s Coronation that upholds the Antioch Line of scripture, the Coronation of Solomon and the Zadok Priesthood.

The higher critics that brought together the Alexandrian Codices however reject the infallibility of scripture thus making it impossible for an Anglican to abide these scriptures.

1862 Apr. 30th, May 1st - Hort: "It seems to be clearly and broadly directed to maintaining that the English clergy are not compelled to maintain the absolute infallibility of the Bible. And, whatever the truth may be, this seems just the liberty required at the present moment, if any living belief is to survive in the land." (Life, Vol.I, p.454).

Article XXI: Of the Authority of General Councils

General Councils may not be gathered together without the commandment and will of Princes. And when they be gathered together, (forasmuch as they be an assembly of men, whereof all be not governed with the Spirit and Word of God,) they may err, and sometimes have erred, even in things pertaining unto God. Wherefore things ordained by them as necessary to salvation have neither strength nor authority, unless it may be declared that they be taken out of holy Scripture.

This continues the Reformation Principle of sola scriptura.

Article XXII: Of Purgatory

The Romish Doctrine concerning Purgatory, Pardons, Worshipping, and Adoration as well of Images as of Reliques, and also invocation of Saints, is a fond thing vainly invented, and grounded upon no warranty of Scripture, but rather repugnant to the Word of God.

This clearly defines the line between those of Sola Scriptura of the finished canon, and those who uphold the Apocrypha and the unfinished scriptures of the Alexandrian line, coming out of these doctrine being the indulgences that Martin Luther brought out in his 95 Theses.

Article XXIII: Of Ministering in the Congregation

It is not lawful for any man to take upon him the office of publick preaching, or ministering the Sacraments in the Congregation, before he be lawfully called, and sent to execute the same. And those we ought to judge lawfully called and sent, which be chosen and called to this work by men who have publick authority given unto them in the Congregation, to call and send Ministers into the Lord's vineyard.

This relates to congregation recognition of a great spiritual calling supported along the Antioch Line by the “perfecting” of the saints, rather than the “equipping” of the Alexandrian line.

Article XXIV: Of speaking in the Congregation in such a tongue as the people understandeth

It is a thing plainly repugnant to the Word of God, and the custom of the Primitive Church, to have publick Prayer in the Church, or to minister the Sacraments in a tongue not understanded of the people.

In the context in which this is written, this relates to the Latin Mass of the Romanists rather than the demand for interpretation of tongue speaking in public worship, understanding being the point of article, that is in line with Paul’s admonition to the Corinthians.

1 Corinthians 14:3-5 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

3 But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort. 4 He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church. 5 I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.

Article XXV: Of the Sacraments

Sacraments ordained of Christ be not only badges or tokens of Christian men's profession, but rather they be certain sure witnesses, and effectual signs of grace, and God's good will towards us, by the which he doth work invisibly in us, and doth not only quicken, but also strengthen and confirm our Faith in him.

There are two Sacraments ordained of Christ our Lord in the Gospel, that is to say, Baptism, and the Supper of the Lord.

Those five commonly called Sacraments, that is to say, Confirmation, Penance, Orders, Matrimony, and extreme Unction, are not to be counted for Sacraments of the Gospel, being such as have grown partly of the corrupt following of the Apostles, partly are states of life allowed in the Scriptures; but yet have not like nature of Sacraments with Baptism, and the Lord's Supper, for that they have not any visible sign or ceremony ordained of God.

The Sacraments were not ordained of Christ to be gazed upon, or to be carried about, but that we should duly use them. And in such only as worthily receive the same have they a wholesome effect or operation: but they that receive them unworthily purchase to themselves damnation, as Saint Paul saith.

This gives warning of those embracing the Romanist sacraments so truly embraced by Westcott and Hort, whose Alexandrian Bibles are so common today. Their views on these matters need to be noted however for they strongly opposed these 39 articles, particularly this one.

It needs to be noted that the “quickening” mentioned in the article is denied along the Alexandrian Line. It needs to be noted and respected that the understanding of baptism caused a split amongst Reformation groups.

1 Corinthians 15:45 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

1 Corinthians 15:45 New International Version (NIV)

45 So it is written: “The first man Adam became a living being”[a]; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit.

Article XXVI: Of the Unworthiness of the Ministers, which hinders not the effect of the Sacrament

Although in the visible Church the evil be ever mingled with the good, and sometimes the evil have chief authority in the Ministration of the Word and Sacraments, yet forasmuch as they do not the same in their own name, but in Christ's, and do minister by his commission and authority, we may use their Ministry, both in hearing the Word of God, and in the receiving of the Sacraments. Neither is the effect of Christ's ordinance taken away by their wickedness, nor the grace of God's gifts diminished from such as by faith and rightly do receive the Sacraments ministered unto them; which be effectual, because of Christ's institution and promise, although they be ministered by evil men.

Nevertheless it appertaineth to the discipline of the Church, that inquiry be made of evil Ministers, and that they be accused by those that have knowledge of their offences; and finally being found guilty, by just judgement be deposed.

This demands a Biblical Order and Code of Conduct be practised in relation to ministers and ministries, protecting the Church from “loose cannons” as they are described.

Article XXVII: Of Baptism

Baptism is not only a sign of profession, and mark of difference, whereby Christian men are discerned from others that be not christened, but is also a sign of Regeneration or new Birth, whereby, as by an instrument, they that receive Baptism rightly are grafted into the Church; the promises of the forgiveness of sin, and of our adoption to be the sons of God by the Holy Ghost, are visibly signed and sealed; Faith is confirmed, and Grace increased by virtue of prayer unto God. The Baptism of young Children is in any wise to be retained in the Church, as most agreeable with the institution of Christ.

This identifies the Episcopalian & Presbyterian view in contrast to that of the Anabaptists.

Article XXVIII: Of the Lord's Supper

The Supper of the Lord is not only a sign of the love that Christians ought to have among themselves one to another; but rather it is a Sacrament of our Redemption by Christ's death: insomuch that to such as rightly, worthily, and with faith, receive the same, the Bread which we break is a partaking of the Body of Christ; and likewise the Cup of Blessing is a partaking of the Blood of Christ.

Transubstantiation (or the change of the substance of Bread and Wine) in the Supper of the Lord, cannot be proved by holy Writ; but is repugnant to the plain words of Scripture, overthroweth the nature of a Sacrament, and hath given occasion to many superstitions.

The Body of Christ is given, taken, and eaten, in the Supper, only after an heavenly and spiritual manner. And the mean whereby the Body of Christ is received and eaten in the Supper is Faith.

The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper was not by Christ's ordinance reserved, carried about, lifted up, or worshipped.

This affirms the Protestant perspective of the Lord’s Supper that passionately opposes that of the Romanist Mass. As previously intimated the Atonement is thus denied by the higher critics Westcott and Hort of the Alexandrian Line.

Article XXIX: Of the Wicked which do not eat the Body of Christ in the use of the Lord's Supper

The Wicked, and such as be void of a lively faith, although they do carnally and visibly press with their teeth (as Saint Augustine saith) the Sacrament of the Body and Blood of Christ, yet in no wise are they partakers of Christ: but rather, to their condemnation, do eat and drink the sign or Sacrament of so great a thing.

In the Alexandrian line there are no “partakers.”

Hebrews 3:14 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;

Hebrews 3:14 New International Version (NIV)

14 We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end.

Article XXX: Of both kinds

The Cup of the Lord is not to be denied to the Lay-people; for both the parts of the Lord's Sacrament, by Christ's ordinance and commandment, ought to be ministered to all Christian men alike.

This emphasizes an equality here for all that have given their lives to the Lord Jesus to be partakers.

Article XXXI: Of the one Oblation of Christ finished upon the Cross

The Offering of Christ once made is that perfect redemption, propitiation, and satisfaction, for all the sins of the whole world, both original and actual; and there is none other satisfaction for sin, but that alone. Wherefore the sacrifices of Masses, in the which it was commonly said, that the Priest did offer Christ for the quick and the dead, to have remission of pain or guilt, were blasphemous fables, and dangerous deceits.

A clear rejection of the Romanist view, emphasizing the finished work of the Cross, that as we have seen was rejected by Westcott and Hort, thus making their Bibles illegitimate in the Anglican faith.

Article XXXII: Of the Marriage of Priests

Bishops, Priests, and Deacons, are not commanded by God's Law, either to vow the estate of single life, or to abstain from marriage: therefore it is lawful for them, as for all other Christian men, to marry at their own discretion, as they shall judge the same to serve better to godliness.

As Jesus healed the mother in law of Peter, it is clear the Romanist view has no scripture to support it.

Matthew 8:14-15 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

14 And when Jesus was come into Peter’s house, he saw his wife’s mother laid, and sick of a fever. 15 And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them.

Article XXXIII: Of Excommunicated Persons, how they are to be avoided

That person which by open denunciation of the Church is rightly cut off from the unity of the Church, and excummunicated, ought to be taken of the whole multitude of the faithful, as an Heathen and Publican, until he be openly reconciled by penance, and received into the Church by a Judge that hath authority thereunto.

A continuation of a Biblical code of Conduct for the Church.

Article XXXIV: Of the Traditions of the Church

It is not necessary that Traditions and Ceremonies be in all places one, and utterly like; for at all times they have been divers, and may be changed according to the diversities of countries, times, and men's manners, so that nothing be ordained against God's Word. Whosoever through his private judgement, willingly and purposely, doth openly break the traditions and ceremonies of the Church, which be not repugnant to the Word of God, and be ordained and approved by common authority, ought to be rebuked openly, (that others may fear to do the like,) as he that offendeth against the common order of the Church, and hurteth the authority of the Magistrate, and woundeth the consciences of the weak brethren.

Every particular or national Church hath authority to ordain, change, and abolish, ceremonies or rites of the Church ordained only by man's authority, so that all things be done to edifying.

This allows the liberty required to fulfil the commission of the Church in whatsoever culture, but does not give the liberty to contravene God’s Word on the Antioch Line.

Galatians 3:11-14 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it isevident: for, The just shall live by faith.

12 And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.

13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

14 that the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Article XXXV: Of Homilies

The second Book of Homilies, the several titles whereof we have joined under this Article, doth contain a godly and wholesome Doctrine, and necessary for these times, as doth the former Book of Homilies, which were set forth in the time of Edward the Sixth; and therefore we judge them to be read in Churches by the Ministers, diligently and distinctly, that they may be understanded of the people.

Of the Names of the Homilies

  1. Of the right Use of the Church.

  2. Against peril of Idolatry.

  3. Of the repairing and keeping clean of Churches.

  4. Of good Works: first of Fasting.

  5. Against Gluttony and Drunkenness.

  6. Against Excess of Apparel.

  7. Of Prayer.

  8. Of the Place and Time of Prayer.

  9. That Common Prayers and Sacraments ought to be ministered in a known tongue.

  10. Of the reverent estimation of God's Word.

  11. Of Alms-doing.

  12. Of the Nativity of Christ.

  13. Of the Passion of Christ.

  14. Of the Resurrection of Christ.

  15. Of the worthy receiving of the Sacrament of the Body and Blood of Christ.

  16. Of the Gifts of the Holy Ghost.

  17. For the Rogation-days.

  18. Of the State of Matrimony.

  19. Of Repentance.

  20. Against Idleness.

  21. Against Rebellion.

This is all very plain on the Antioch line of scripture there being allowance here very clearly for the manifestation of the gifts of the Holy Ghost, meaning to be true Anglicans these need to be encouraged. The Alexandrian line as already discussed denies the resurrection of Christ as it relates to the believer and within the context of the homilies is the virgin birth denied in the Alexandrian line with Joseph being Jesus father. The giving of alms is also included and being worthy before the Table of the Lord, this worthiness coming through the blood of Christ Jesus.

Homily 21 is perhaps the most significant with Canterbury today observing the political correctness of the Romanist social policies, allowing for that which is not of the state of matrimony as well, thus making the establishment leading the Church at odds with these articles, thus making themselves into a state of rebellion, warned about in Homily 21.

1 Corinthians 14:1-5 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

14 Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.

2 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.

Article XXXVI: Of Consecration of Bishops and Ministers

The Book of Consecration of Archbishops and Bishops, and Ordering of Priests and Deacons, lately set forth in the time of Edward the Sixth, and confirmed at the same time by authority of Parliament, doth contain all things necessary to such Consecration and Ordering: neither hath it any thing, that of itself is superstitious or ungodly. And therefore whosoever are consecrated or ordered according to the Rites of that Book, since the second year of the forenamed King Edward unto this time, or hereafter shall be consecrated or ordered according to the same Rites; we decree all such to be rightly, orderly, and lawfully consecrated or ordered.

It is very clear that all this is to be in line with the Antioch Line of scripture, and not the Alexandrian line as taught in the British University system, that embraces higher criticism.

Article XXXVII: Of the Civil Magistrates

The Queen's Majesty hath the chief power in this Realm of England, and other her Dominions, unto whom the chief Government of all Estates of this Realm, whether they be Ecclesiastical or Civil, in all causes doth appertain, and is not, nor ought to be, subject to any foreign Jurisdiction.

Where we attribute to the Queen's Majesty the chief government, by which Titles we understand the minds of some slanderous folks to be offended; we give not to our Princes the ministering either of God's Word, or of the Sacraments, the which thing the Injunctions also lately set forth by Elizabeth our Queen doth most plainly testify; but only that prerogative, which we see to have been given always to all godly Princes in holy Scriptures by God himself; that is, that they should rule all estates and degrees committed to their charge by God, whether they be Ecclesiastical or Temporal, and restrain with the civil sword the stubborn and evildoers.

The Bishop of Rome hath no jurisdiction in this Realm of England.

The Laws of the Realm may punish Christian men with death, for heinous and grievous offences.

It is lawful for Christian men, at the commandment of the Magistrate, to wear weapons, and serve in the wars.

These articles therefore are the base for the British Constitutional Acts that came about through Queen Elizabeth I with the Antioch Line of scripture only, the ALEXANDRIAN LINE BEING CLEARLY REJECTED, THIS LINE COMING THROUGH THE CODICES OF Vaticanus, Sinaiticus and Alexandrinus that are actively promoted today by the alliance of the Bible Societies, and the Vatican, such an alliance being prohibited from bringing influence to the Anglican Communion.

1534 Act of Supremacy restored to law in 1559 in the Elizabethan Settlement.

The obligations of this act are as follows:

  1. Increase in virtue (anointing) of Christ’s Religion. This means being bound to Christ, the present turning away from the real Christ Jesus of the Reformation being completely and absolutely unconstitutional.

  2. Repress and extirpate all errors, heresies, and other enormities and abuses. The extreme alliances contrary to our Protestant heritage have to be repressed.

  3. The Monarch to act in the line of repressing the extremities that are religiously affecting the nation. This is extremely serious in the context of today for we are seeing a complete breakdown of all that is precious to us.

  4. To conserve the peace, unity and tranquillity of the realm. We have witnessed in our universities, colleges, social services a social policy of political correctness that has its roots in the Treaty of Rome.. This has brought in Roman Catholics from all over Europe who will vote in a Roman Catholic agenda in our nation which is why the Church of England of which the Monarch is the head on earth must take its stand and take over control of our nation in a Protestant way.

  5. To repress the infiltration of foreign laws and systems into our nation. Roman countries use the principles of Corpus Juris that have their origins in Babylon whereas our Protestant system of Habeas Corpus has its origins in Jerusalem, Greece and Protestant Britain. It is obvious to see that the activities of Rome Henry suppressed are coming back. Rome is taking away our freedoms and so those in Christian Ministry today must demand by quoting this Act of Supremacy that our Monarch repress as she is obligated to do these infiltrations into our society.

Act Establishing the Coronation Oath, 1689

Here are the demands of the Oath:

  1. Maintain the statutes, laws and customs of the realm.

  2. Government of the People is the Monarch’s responsibility according to the statutes of Parliament and the laws and customs of the same.

  3. Law and justice in mercy to be executed in all judgements.

  4. The Laws of God maintained, the Monarch being obligated to do this by the utmost of her power meaning she is honour bound not to allow laws onto the statute book that contravene the Word of God, any such law being null and void according to this constitutional demand.

  5. The utmost of the Monarch’s power has to be used in relation to the ongoing profession of the Gospel and the Protestant Reformed Religion that has been established by law.

  6. Rights and privileges are given by law to Bishops and clergy meaning in reality that anyone who tries to quieten the ministry of the Gospel would be in effect guilty of High Treason.

Act of Settlement 1700 that followed the Bill of Rights 1689

Both acts deal with the succession to the throne, 1689 Bill relating this to the rights of citizens living under a constitutional monarchy. In the U.K. the 1689 bill is accompanied by Magna Carta in relation to how we live in the U.K.
